Historical Arrivals for June 17

Historical arrivals in the port of Erie for June 17:

1952: American Steamship Company's STANDARD PORTLAND CEMENT arrives in ballast from Buffalo, clearing the same day with coal for Buffalo.

1982: WILLIAM R. ROESCH, which later became the DAVID Z. NORTON, DAVID Z., and currently CALUMET, arrives with stone for the Old Ore Dock.

Historical Arrivals - May 26

Historical Arrivals for May 26:

1952 - C.S. ROBINSON and ADRIATIC arrive with iron ore from Superior and Two Harbors, respectively. Both clear light for Superior later in the day. MIDLAND PRINCE, NORMAN J. KOPMEIER and STANDARD PORTLAND CEMENT arrived light to load coal, clearing for Toronto, Toronto and Buffalo, respectively.

2000 - ALGOWOOD arrives with stone for the Mountfort Terminal.

2002- DAVID Z. NORTON arrives with stone for the Mountfort Terminal.

Historical Season Openings: April 1

Historical arrivals for April 1:

1998- DAVID Z. NORTON arrives with stone for the Old Ore Dock, becoming the first vessel of the 1998 season. The vessel is in service today for Lower Lakes Transportation as CALUMET.

BUFFALO Arrives in Erie; BOLAND Due, PRESQUE ISLE Due out on Sunday

BUFFALO, delayed slightly by rough weather on Lake Erie, arrived in Erie at 0930 this morning, docking at the Old Ore Dock to unload stone from Calcite. After she is finished unloading she will depart Erie for the nearby port of Ashtabula, Ohio to load coal for Alpena, Michigan.

JOHN J. BOLAND, also with stone from Calcite, is due in Erie at around 1830 tonight.

PRESQUE ISLE is expecting to depart Erie sometime Sunday once repairs on the stern tube are complete, according to officials at the Mountfort Terminal.

DAVID Z. Due

Wisconsin & Michigan Steamship's DAVID Z., the former DAVID Z. NORTON of the Oglebay Norton fleet, is due in Erie tomorrow at 1915 hours. This is her first visit since August 18, 2006 and her first since being renamed this past winter. The DAVID Z. loaded in Stoneport and is the fifth vessel to call on the port of Erie in the past two weeks.
