Below are very late photos of two visits from the MANISTEE and a visit from the BUFFALO.

HERBERT P. BRAKE arrived in Erie early on August 7 and was lifted from the water at Donjon Shipbuilding & Repair. The BRAKE and the next new hopper barge will be departing at the end of August.

BRAKE, BUFFALO Due

HERBERT P. BRAKE is expected back in Erie tonight to pick up the next hopper barge from Donjon Shipbuilding & Repair.

American Steamship Company's BUFFALO, with stone from Cedarville, is expected in Erie at 1130 on Wednesday.

BOOTHE/CONTENDER SET FOR DEPARTURE, BUFFALO IN PORT

Newly-completed tug and barge KEN BOOTHE SR./LAKES CONTENDER are preparing to depart on their maiden voyage for American Steamship Company. The duo is out on acceptance trials at the moment and if all goes well the duo will depart Donjon tomorrow. Tuesday afternoon the BOOTHE got underway from Donjon at 1330 hours, went out into Presque Isle Bay and turned to mate up with the barge LAKES CONTENDER. The duo backed out of the West Slip at 1730 and proceeded to return to the slip. Also Wednesday, VICTORIAN PRINCESS was moved by Lakeshore Towing tugs FLATTOP and DON HENRY at the dock at Dobbin's Landing. The PRINCESS was moved to allow re-installation of the hydraulic steering ram on the port side. After the ram was lifted and bolted on, the PRINCESS was again spun around. BUFFALO arrived in Erie this morning at 0200 and docked at the Old Ore Dock to unload. BUFFALO was outbound at 1000. KEN BOOTHE SR./LAKES CONTENDER, on acceptance trials, followed them about 30 minutes later.

Departing for Cleveland. In Cleveland, the BUFFALO will shuttle iron ore from Cleveland Bulk Terminal at Cleveland's lakefront to Mittal Steel's Upper Dock, at the end of the navigable Cuyahoga River.

BUFFALO, with stone from Calcite, becomes the second vessel of the year to arrive in Erie upon arrival at 0230 on Wednesday.

CHEYENNE TO TAKE TWO DECK BARGES

Port Albany Ventures' pretty canal tug CHEYENNE arrived in Erie at 0200 this morning and docked at the West Slip alongside the newly-built deck barge SUE B. The tug spent the morning preparing SUE B. for its tow to Albany before shifting to the WITTE 1402 at around 1430 today. The CHEYENNE moved WITTE 1402 backwards before taking the SUE B. in tow and turning it in the slip, mooring the barge bow-to-bow with WITTE 1402 to make them up for the tow through the Welland Canal to Oswego, NY. From Oswego the barges will be taken through the New York State Barge Canal one at a time.

After working on making up the tow, the CHEYENNE entered the drydock at Erie Shipbuilding at 1700 today and emerged a half-hour later with the newest deck barge, WITTE 1405, in tow. The WITTE 1405 is now secured alongside WITTE 1404.

CHEYENNE is scheduled to leave this weekend bound for Oswego.

CCGS SHARK departed Erie at 0815 this morning bound for Port Dover, Ontario. BUFFALO departed yesterday at 1915 bound for Calcite.
