CALUMET Visits; JOHN G. MUNSON Due

CALUMET arrived in Erie at 1230 on Saturday to deliver a cargo of stone from Marblehead. The ship unloaded at the Old Ore Dock before moving over to load sand for transshipment to the North Pier.

Great Lakes Fleet's 1952-built steamship JOHN G. MUNSON, loaded with stone from Calcite, Michigan, makes an ultra-rare appearance in Erie when she arrives at 1300 on Monday. The MUNSON is the first steamship to visit Erie with a cargo since AMERICAN FORTITUDE in October, 2008, and the first vessel from Great Lakes Fleet to unload in Erie since 2003, although their vessels lay up in Erie every winter.
