EDMUND FITZGERALD - 37 Years Later
1910 hours tonight, November 10, marks 37 years since the sinking of the EDMUND FITZGERALD, of Columbia Steamship, on Lake Superior with all hands. Twenty-nine men died when the ship sank in a fierce November storm.
The FITZGERALD was being followed by the ARTHUR M. ANDERSON and disappeared both from view and from radar during a snow squall about 1910 hours. When the squall let up, the FITZGERALD was gone to the bottom of Lake Superior.
