ATLANTIC ENTERPRISE DUE FOR DONJON

Donjon Marine's newest acquisition, ATLANTIC ENTEPRISE, should arrive in Erie in the early afternoon hours on Sunday. The tug is coming from New York for a refit, and is a sister to ATLANTIC SALVOR, Donjon's massive tug that was drydocked in Erie in 2011.

ATLANTIC ENTEPRISE was built at Halter Marine in 1976 for Jackson Marine Corporation as MISTER PETE. In 1999 she was acquired by Portland Tugboat and renamed PETE, and kept that name when Portland Tugboat was acquired by McAllister in 2001.

In 2007 the tug was acquired by K-Sea Transportation and renamed BARENTS SEA, keeping that name in 2011 when K-Sea was acquired by Kirby Corporation, and operating as such until laid up in 2015. Rumors abounded in 2014, when Donjon acquired YANKEE from Kirby, that they had purchased BARENTS SEA as well, but the deal didn't close until earlier this year, when BARENTS SEA became ATLANTIC ENTERPRISE. The tug has been undergoing topside work, including painting, in New York since late April and is coming to the Donjon yard to continue her refit.
